Can counselors diagnose autism?
Yes! According to the state of Maryland, counselors can provide services involving the "principles and methods in the diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and melioration of psychological problems and emotional or mental conditions."1
How long does autism testing take?
If testing is requested after our initial session, it is done over two or three telehealth sessions.
What evaluations do you use for autism testing?
I use the Monteiro Interview Guidelines for Diagnosis of Autism Spectrum (MIGDAS2) and the Social Responsiveness Scale (SRS-2), for which I completed training in under Dr. Marilyn Monteiro.
Do you provide ESA letters?
For established patients (attended at least 3 sessions), I can provide a letter. I've completed courses on ESA Laws, Ethics, and Criteria.Â
Are there any symptoms you do NOT work with?
I may not be the best fit for people with eating disorders or issues involving children. I do not have adequate training for that.
Do you prescribe medication?
No, you have to see a psychiatrist. There are ones listed on www.psychologytoday.com.
